Unveiling an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Piece of Feces on a Quest to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have found plenty of entertaining creations from small studios. However, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Named Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure lets you play a character that is truly a piece of poop attempting to navigate to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

How you interact is simple: you only need a jump control. In numerous stages, battle mini-bosses and unlock a store to acquire skins for your fecal avatar.

Time your movements precisely, since one wrong move forces beginning again. Leap off floating orbs to propel the poop higher, cross crumbling platforms, and interact with triggers to open new areas. Earn UN-KOINS to purchase challenging levels as gameplay intensifies.

Visually, the demo features eye-catching environments and an amazing soundtrack. The simple visual style featuring shifting basic polygons could recall fans of classic titles like Earthbound.

While it's hard to think of previous releases where you play as a dung character, interactive entertainment frequently featured fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, you can make grenades from character droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as fertilizer. Naturally, such content appears heavily in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already garnered notable recognition, such as taking top honors at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is accessible currently on Steam, with the final release set to debut on Steam in the fall.
