A helicopter soaring above a crowded California beach abruptly started spinning out of control, finally descending rapidly and plunging into a row of palm fronds as spectators looked on.

Footage uploaded on the internet depict the chopper starting to spin above the shoreline then descending in the direction of the border of the shore, where it gets stuck among palm trees and a set of stairs adjacent to the shoreline route.

Emergency Response Details

Emergency responders said five persons were transported to a medical facility including a pair who were in the chopper and were “extracted safely from the crash site” subsequent to the incident on Saturday.

Three people on the pavement were injured. Details on their condition were not yet released.

The cause of the crash was not immediately released.
